On September 10th, 2024, dozens of students joined us in person for the launch class of Buffalo School of the Bible. Rev. Aimee Reid-Sych, MA in Theology with emphasis in Biblical Exegesis, will be teaching and designing the prototype classes as she leads the development of our school.

The Formed Life | Recovering the Ancient Path of Spiritual Formation:

This course explores God’s lifelong work of restoring humanity into the image of Christ through the transforming ministry of the Holy Spirit. Tracing the story of Scripture from creation to new creation, students will discover spiritual formation not merely as a collection of disciplines, but as participation in God’s redemptive work and the life of His Kingdom.

Through careful biblical exegesis, the ancient practice of Lectio Divina, and engagement with the wisdom of the Desert Fathers and Desert Mothers, students will journey deeply into the life of prayer, healing, worship, holiness, and Christlike character. Historic Christian practices are explored not as ends in themselves, but as means through which the Holy Spirit forms believers into mature disciples.

More than an academic study, this course invites students into a semester-long experience of personal transformation. Weekly rhythms of sacred Scripture, reflection, journaling, prayer, and community cultivate habits of attentive listening and faithful obedience. Students will also develop practical tools for shepherding others through the process of spiritual formation within the local church, equipping them to lead individuals and communities toward deeper communion with Christ.
