Hearing the Voice of God

"I will stand my watch and set myself on the rampart and watch to see what He will say to me, Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie." Hab. 2:1-3

Dear Tabernacle Family,

One of the greatest benefits we have in our relationship with God is hearing God speak to us personally. As easy as it is for us to speak to Him, we seem to have a hard time hearing His voice even though Scripture says in John 10:27, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me."

God desires to fellowship and communicate with us. That is, He desires two-way communication. Why? Because there is no relationship outside the dialogue of talking and listening. In our relationship with God, He talks, we listen: we talk, He listens.

God loves us so much that He sent Jesus to take our place and die for us. He did this so we could once again have unbroken fellowship with Him. In the book of Hebrews, we see that we can have access to God's very presence. Hebrews 10:19-20a "having boldness to enter the Holiest place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way."

He also wants us to be fulfilled, blessed and successful in the plan He has established for our lives so we can reflect His love and blessing in the Earth. It is God’s good pleasure to communicate with His creation. He does that through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. God says over and over in Scripture, “Let he who has an ear hear what the Spirit of the Lord is saying.” He gave us two ears and one mouth because He wants us to listen more than we speak. The reason is when God speaks there is always a release of supernatural power.

In God's creative thinking process, He never uses logic! He Thinks, Speaks, and Creates! “Peter come on out on the water!" Not logical. Peter tries it: he walks out on the word “come.” When does he sink? When he realizes it is not logical for him to be walking on water!

In Christ, we are not limited to logic which would say, God does not speak to people today. Rather, we are to be Creative Thinkers. I have an ear to hear what the Spirit of God is saying to me. If you have an ear, He will speak to you. Your heart will be captured and captivated with passion when you know beyond a shadow of a doubt you have “Heard the Voice of God” and He is thinking about you.

If you want to know more about “How to Hear the Voice of God,” join me the first Saturday of every month in the World Prayer Center from 10:00am until 12:00pm.

In His Name,

Pastor Jo Ann Angelo
